Calculators allowed in the 12th examinations of the jury, paper to have an internal choice: CISCE

Students appearing for Class 12 or Semester 2 ISC exams conducted by the Council for Indian School Certificate Exam (CISCE) will be allowed to use a scientific calculator during the exam. This is one of several relaxations announced by the board for its upcoming second-quarter reviews. The CISCE has already announced the results of the exams for semesters 1 and 2 which will take place from April 26th.

Although calculators are allowed. Use of calculator with information retrieval not allowed in 2nd semester exams. Semester 2 exams will be the first written exams for class 12 students in about two years. Semester 1 exams were based on the MCQ format. The current batch was promoted from class 11 to 12 without holding the end-of-year exams. To ensure that students do not encounter any problems during written exams, CISCE is likely to offer internal options during exams as well.

In the latest notice, CISCE said that students must answer “only answer the number of questions” as indicated, this means that there will be more questions in the questionnaire and therefore students can expect choices in the questions. The students were also asked to number the questions correctly.

Students may use black and blue pens only in answer booklets. The use of pencil will be authorized but only for the diagrams. Students will be graded on handwriting and spelling. Answer booklets will bear a unique identifier, index number and subject name for convenience as well as authentication measures.

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, students will be required to take the exam socially. To allow for staggered entry, students will need to arrive at the exam center well in advance. The exam room will be closed five minutes before the start of the exam, depending on the establishment.

Students will also be required to wear face masks or face coverings when writing their exams. The transport of disinfectants will be authorized and no sharing of stationery will be authorized.
