Dr. Trina Gregory joins the 2022 cohort of the AASCU Emerging Leaders Program – Elizabeth City State University
Dr. Trina L. Gregory, ECSU Distance Education Student Support Services Coordinator and State Permissions Compliance Officer, will participate in the American Association of State’s Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) Colleges and Universities (AASCU) in 2022.
ELP helps prepare the next generation of higher education administrators to be effective leaders, considering every decision they make through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The overall goal of the AASCU ELP is to promote equitable student success at each participant’s higher education institution.
“AASCU has a heritage of producing strong leaders to lead the nation’s institutions of higher education,” said Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon. “Other campus administrators – including myself – have completed programs through AASCU that focus on diversifying and growing the skilled leadership pipeline in our higher education system, which, in turn , leads to access and opportunity for our students.”
“I am thrilled about this wonderful opportunity with the AASCU ELP which will enhance my leadership skills,” says Dr. Trina Gregory. “I want to personally thank Chancellor Dixon for asking me to participate in the program and to be my mentor. As Chairman of the Staff Senate, it is important that ECSU staff have opportunities like this- ci, and I work to ensure that the professional development of all staff becomes a priority in our institution.
Dr. Gregory will participate in sessions that will include theoretical knowledge, practical applications and case study discussions. The 2022 cohort will practice leadership, project and change management, and team building skills to acquire the essential skills needed to lead institutional change. Additionally, each ELP participant will lead an on-campus project or initiative to demonstrate and strengthen their leadership skills while benefiting from the mentorship of a current campus leader.
AASCU’s 2022 PEL program will cover a number of areas, including Title IX, Finance and Administration, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, and Staff and Faculty Management. Visit the AASCU Emerging Leaders Program to learn more.
